We generally recommend when a pet door is 3 years old or over that it maybe time and a better investment to replace the whole pet door. Pet Doors do wear and tear over time, and do get to an age where they should be replaced. This also depends on usage, how many pets use the pet door and how rough they are.
We cannot guarantee a replacement hard flap will fit and swing perfectly in old pet door frames. The pivot points on the frames could have worn, so a replacement hard flap may not sit within the frames properly, if this is the case then a new hard flap can hit or brush the bottom of the frame and only damage a new flap.
If you want to get a bit more wear out of the frames you may want to consider replacing the hard flap with the flexible flap. Eventually you may need to replace the pet door completely.

Our large pet doors made for security screens come with a seperate lock-out panel. In case you have misplaced the lock-out panel or have moved into a new property with an existing pet door, you can buy a replacement lock-out panel here.
Please note, this lock-out panel is only compatible with our Petway Pet Door for Security Screens in size Large.
